Snow Day

One great thing about living in Phoenix, AZ is that in the winter time, we do not have to deal with the pains of snow, shoveling, frozen car doors,  and scraping windshields. Yet, it is just an hour and a half drive to go enjoy the snow in the northern part of the state. We did just that for a day back in March. Enjoyed a snowball fight and some sledding. I even hiked up the hill and went down the sled, and of course wiped out! Couldn't tell you the last time I went sledding.

Hiking

Beautiful spring day for a hike at Cave Creek Regional Park with the family.

 Austin soaking up the view.

My brother teaching his nephews about the local rocks.

My hubby and our two oldest sons.

Mom and Dad hiking together, so sweet.

 Snack TIME!!!

Someone ran out of energy, stopped in middle of the trail and threw a HUGE fit!

I got so far behind the rest of the group waiting on the little one to find some energy, we stumbled upon a closed road... pay attention... see where the detour leads us.

When he saw this sign all the tears magically dried up!

Weekend Getaway

My husband and I got a weekend away last August.  We dropped the kiddos off at my parents house in Payson, AZ. From there we traveled around Rim Country enjoying what our state has to offer.

This tree marks the spot of our first campout over 14 years ago. Tree looks the same, just a dead tree, but holds lots of memories for us. I am both surprised its still standing, but also happy in the same. Every time we see it, I take a picture.

Some sort of spider web I believe. Very interesting, it was all over the trees.

 Storm is rolling in.

I take pictures of signs as a way of journaling and remembering where I was. It is so much easier than remembering or writing it down, then remembering where you wrote it down at. I stole the idea from Grandpa. He alway stopped at entrance signs to National Parks, and other places we traveled to. All of us had to get out of the car stand by the sign wait for him to set his camera, and double check his exposure, and triple check his settings and finally he got a shot of us all looking crazy and goofy and usually tired. But at least he knew who was there and where we were.
