my home

I have lived in the desert for about as long as I can remember. I have also traveled the country and seen many different landscapes. It wasn't until my adult life that I really saw the beauty in my desert home. When we do get rain there is green, lots of green. During our summer monsoon season the clouds are fabulous, the skies still so blue, and the lightening is amazing! With the family we drove out to McDowell Mountain Park to check it out as a possible future camping spot. There was a storm brewing to the northeast. I got some amazing shots.

This is a view of Four Peaks.

July 4th

Hope everyone had a great Independence Day, we sure did. We headed out of this heat infested town up to the cooler 80 degree Payson, AZ. Spent the evening at Green Valley Park for concerts by John Carpino and the Hot Cappuccinos as well as Johnny Anonymous with my family. Afterwords was an amazing firework show that lasted about 40 min. I set up the tripod and had some fun. This was my first attempt at taking pictures of fireworks with a DSLR. Think they turned out pretty neat. My 2 1/2 year old enjoyed pushing the button to take pictures of the fireworks. I will have to give him credit, some of these shots my have been taken by Clay. We then stayed the night at my folks house and enjoyed a leisurely 5th as well.
