A Photo Prop put to its proper use

 

I went hunting for some umbrellas to use as photo props a few months back.  I don't think I have ever bought an umbrella in my life!  I had to ask where they were located in the store because I couldn't find them.  We took a last minute trip to Alabama for my Grandfather's funeral, and we they were expecting rain.  The only umbrellas I had were my props, so I threw them in the back of the truck.  Good thing too, because they were needed.  Clay got a kick out of the umbrella, I don't think he has ever held one before in the rain.  Carson also enjoyed the rain and was making some funny faces entertaining the photographer.

our so called rainy day

A few weeks ago, on September 22, 2010, we were warned, by the local news, that it was going to be record breaking rain.  The most rain to fall in a single day in the Valley of the Sun.  I was so prepared to capture this memorable occasion.  My street turns into a river and yard a lake when it rains.  GUESS WHAT????  Thats right! NOT A DROP!!  So here are the pictures I took of our "rainiest day ever"

Instead of rain visiting us, my 12 year old son found a new friend visiting us on the porch that evening.  Thanks to my wonderful husband for catching him then relocating him away homes.

monsoon storms!

I just can't get enough of Arizona's monsoon weather. The meandering clouds, spurts and down pours of rain, amazing lightening storms, all make for very impressive sunsets. Wish we didn't have to have the high humidity to go with it. You give some you take some, right? The other night I enjoyed watching the storm come in from the north. The clouds were moving quickly and the sun was setting. Of course I found some higher ground in my yarn and brought my camera. These are some of the pictures I took.
